Report from Rosalie!
Another beautiful weekend!
“Sunday, after school, we went to the Ramat Gan Zoological Center or Ramat Gan Safari. k……which was really wonderful. I was amazed at the amount of open space in the African safari area, as well as other areas in the park…..unusual to have such a huge park in the middle of a city. Ramat Gan is where the diamond business is centered. We were taken on our tour on a special train, with a guide and tour manager. “
As we drover through the grounds the guide talked about the animals, where they came from – what they eat, etc . getting off a couple of times ……to see something up close or to feed to the giraffes….who licked hands with their LONG tongues”The Zoological Center Tel Aviv – Ramat Gan or “Safari” occupies 250 acres of nature in the heart of a densely populated urban area in Israel: The word ‘Safari” is colloquial Swahili for ‘journey’. and so CAARI embarked on a fascinating journey into the lives of animals in the African savannah.. Our guide described their natural habitat on the continent of Africa as the animals wander freely in large herds. We were able to watch the typical behavior of the animals: their feeding habits, the social behavior of the great herds, activities, and resting patterns. Our guide was amazing and we learned so much! We saw African and Asian elephants, zebras, bears, gazelles, gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans families, a herd of rhinoceroses and really enjoyed the ‘selfies’ while we hand fed the giraffes eucalyptus leaves! How special is that!
