We know that Israel needs rain, so we are ‘sort of” okay with it AND it is better than the weather in North America.  As you can see, it was very stormy with loud claps of thunder, lightening, heavy rain and even  hail!

That doesn’t stop CAARI – we have flexible leaders and off we went.  Our plans for going to the forest changed.  Instead,  we went to a moving experience at Independence Hall, especially hearing  Hatikva sung on the tape when Ben Gurion declared the State.

From there we went to visit the Botanical Gardens – the skies cleared.  We had a picnic lunch in one of the classrooms.  From there we went to Israel’s Intelligence Memorial where on of the well known intelligence offerings briefed us on Israel and the situation.  It was a most interesting afternoon.  After dinner, documentary film maker, Yael Katzir, discussed and gave us a preview of her latest documentary – Muslims saving Jews during the Holocaust in Albania.   What a interesting day.

The Canadian American Active Retirees in Israel, CAARI, offers active seniors a unique opportunity to experience Israel. The program is designed to explore the biblical landscapes, follow the footsteps of the early pioneers, and envision the future of our Homeland. The CAARI Program includes community service, toursa speakers forum and the camaraderie of the CAARI Family. The Program is designed for to feel, touch, hear and see Israel from the mountains to the desert, from sea to sea, and from ancient to modern.
