Nature and Environment – Part 2 Gamla Hike Shabbat

Following a falafel and humus lunch in the Katzrin, the largest town in the Golan today, we arrived at Gamla, the Nature Reserve and archaeological site. Here Josephus, a Jewish historian in Roman Times, described in detail, events similar to Masada in 67 CE, 1950 years ago. Gamla is also the site of Israel’s highest waterfall which CAARI hiked.  We  treked through an ancient burial field with large and small above ground burial markers called Dolmans. Many Griffon vultures nest in these cliffs. The recent rains turned the natural habitat green and spring flowers were blooming!
Back at the hotel we lit Shabbat candles, sang traditional Shabbat songs and later enjoyed Shabbat meal. .  .

Shabbat Shalom to all our family & friends
