February 22 Herodian and Israel Museum with Special Dinner

Another rainy day, but that doesn’t stop the CAARI group!  Off we went to Herodian, the most impressive and largest Monarchical structures ever built in the anicent wold! One of the unique and greatest palaces build by King Herod the Great 2000 years ago.  Although, not all us of climbed the 200 steps to  the top, we enjoyed the movie and the view.  Some

did climb the ancient steps to see the palacial apartment, bathhouse and garden gallery and cisterns and below visited the Theater and royal monument where Herod was buried.

In the afternoon, we had free time before leaving for the Israel Museum for a tour of this wonderful museum and enjoy the CAARI Farewell Dinner at the Modern Restaurant.  And…what a dinner it was!  Nancy read her description of work at the Botanical Gardens.  (will post in separate post). It was a dinner “fit for the great King Herod” and for the 30 + people who came to Israel for CAARI 2016 – a salute to you!
