Day 2 – Jeep ride in Golan – Katrzin and Golan

Wednesday January 13 – CAARI prepared for our  second Touring Day of the CAARI 2016 program.  We dressed in several layers as we were informed that we were heading north to the Golan where the temperatures were in the 50’s or colder.  . We drove to Kibbutz Merom Hagolan where we met 4 Jeeps that took us to the Kunetra Valley and the Syrian border.  Up and down the hills we traveled.  Sometimes it seemed we were in a vertical positions. The view was spectacular! We received a great overview of what is going on now on both sides by Ilan Shulman.

Next we drove to Katzrin where we had lunch and toured the restored town from the time of the Talmud and Mishnah.

Our last site was Gamlah a city of 20,000 people according to Josephus that was conquered by the Roman army under General Vespasian in 67 CE. Over 9000 were killed or jumped to their death.

We ended our day with a dinner at a local Chinese Restaurant!

Enjoy the rest of the pictures!
