Amazing, fascinating, one our best days!  We arrived at Dor after our morning work at the Botanical Gardens.  Nahum and Susan told us about CAARI’s past visits with Kurt Raveh, but we had no idea what an exceptional visit it would be!

Dor is an incredibly beautiful and an interesting place.  Who knew about the world of underwater archeology?  Kurt brought it to life as we walked about the beach and overlook to see the ancient ruins and learn about his work.

Kurt  Raveh, arrived in Israel from Holland in 1973 and had dedicated his lifetime work to Maritime archeology and the study and exploration of the ancient port of Dor, where Kibbutz Nahsholim is located.   He fell in love with the place and started taking part in underwater archaeological excavations in the area.

He has discovered, or been involved, with over 40 major projects and ancient shipwrecks in the region.  The ancient Sea of Galilee Project, known as the Jesus boat and the search for Napoleon’s lost Armor, are among his famous project.

An outstanding day!

CAARI brings us to such incredible places.  This was another highlight! Thanks to Donelle for pictures.  Enjoy!
